Thinking about a future in nursing?

At Maynooth University, we are preparing nurses to meet Ireland’s evolving healthcare needs - today and into the future.

We are proud to launch our brand-new Bachelor of Science in General Nursing (MH701), starting this September - the first programme from the newly established School of Nursing at Maynooth University in partnership with HSE Dublin and Midland Region.

Why Choose Nursing at Maynooth University?

This innovative degree reflects Ireland's evolving healthcare needs - with a strong emphasis on community-based care, person-centred practice, and real-world experience. It's a programme that combines clinical learning with compassion, preparing you for work across a range of modern healthcare settings.

Early and varied clinical placements

From your first year, you will take part in placements across hospitals and community settings. You will learn by doing — gaining the skills, confidence and adaptability to meet patients where they are.

A connected, supportive university

At Maynooth University, you are not just joining a course, you are joining a welcoming campus community. You will be supported by approachable academic staff, dedicated placement teams and student services who are with you every step of the way.

A chance to shape something new

As part of our first nursing intake, you will help build the future of the School of Nursing. Your voice, experiences and ideas will help shape the student journey for those who follow.

Hear from Prof. Fintan Sheerin , Founding Head of the School of Nursing
